Food & DrinkDelhi gets in the mood for German brew & Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is here and it’s time to indulge in the infamous drinking games with your buddies while savouring the delicious side treats.

The well-known global festival, Oktoberfest, originated in the city of Munich, Germany, which has been hosting the festival since 1810. The 16-day festival culminates on the first Sunday of October and is known as the biggest Volksfest of the world. The celebrations started with a royal wedding, and it has been 200 years of the yearly celebrations, all thanks to immigrants and their descendants who have kept the culture and festivities alive and have spread it across the world.

The festivities have even travelled to Delhi. India’s capital has shown a liking for the German festival for quite a long time, with residents enjoying their favourite tipple to their heart’s content with their European acquaintances and close friends at various restaurants and pubs across the town.
