Earlier, the new PCC chief had planned to move ahead with the already existing team.
After announcing to work with the already existing leaders rather than reforming the organisation, the new Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president in Madhya Pradesh, Jitu Patwari, has been told to reconstitute the new PCC body. The decision, according to sources, has come from the state in-charge Bhanwar Jitendra Singh.
The overriding decision of the in-charge, according to sources, is seen as a measure taken by the leadership not to antagonise the already existing leaders. The source said, “The president first said the body will remain then Jitendra Singh (in-charge) decided to dissolve the body. So it may be that Jitu Patwari did not want to take such a decision where a lot of people in the party could have taken it as a drastic step just before elections. Now with the in-charge saying it the impression would be created that the decision came from the top.”
Congress spokesperson in Madhya Pradesh, Mithun Singh Ahirwar said, “The party has given the best people the chance to work on bigger responsibilities every time there has been a reshuffle. And that formula will be replicated. The responsibility to make the new body is with the new PCC chief (Jitu Patwari) and he will ensure the new body has a balance of people who have worked well in the past and he also wants to infuse new blood in the party.”
Earlier, the new chief had planned to move ahead with the already existing team. The reason for it claimed by party insiders was Kamal Nath has been handling the resource management in the state and Digvijays Singh has a vast network of leaders connected with him with political acumen and can manage political activities.
Moreover, reducing their existence would eventually slow down the political movements of the party. A new crop of leaders will take time to settle in their respective positions, which will hurt Congress’ Lok Sabha preparations.
A political analyst said, “It is always challenging to form new body just four months before the elections. It could be taken as a drastic step.
The people who will be given positions will have to know their responsibilities to the core and then develop a channel of communication with leaders who are overseeing them. So it is a whole chain of communication and should be headed strongly by the PCC chief if the organisation wants to bring some results. Else this will just be another body.”
