BusinessRaptee displays high-voltage e-motorcycle ahead of April launch in TN

Raptee Energy, an innovative EV startup, showcased the world’s first high-voltage e-motorcycle tech born in Chennai at the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet ahead of the electric motorcycle’s launch in April 2024. Built on a high-voltage drivetrain, the motorcycle captured strong interest at the investors meet on the 7th and 8th January, displaying the first transparent look and cutting-edge technology.

The Global Investors meet inaugurated by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin, has drawn participants from 30 nations with the state offering robust infrastructure for EV manufacturing and microchip production. For Dinesh Arjun, CEO and Co-founder of Raptee Energy, Raptee’s unveiling at the TNGIM was significant in the presence of suppliers and investors from around the world and in the ability to display the company as not merely a vehicle integrator but one which has developed the entire stack in India.

“The indigenous high voltage powertrain delivers stunning torque and consistent top speed and will be the only two wheelers compatible with the fast-expanding CCS2 public charging infrastructure,” says Arjun. Raptee’s electric motorcycle boasts a powerful drivetrain, enabling a top speed of 135 kilometres per hour and an impressive real-world range of 150 kilometres on a single charge.

Recharging is hassle-free at any CCS2 charging station, taking just 45 minutes to reach 80 per cent capacity or 40kms in 15 minutes charging. With a rapid acceleration of 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds, this vehicle leaves traditional gas-powered counterparts behind. Apart from stunning torque and consistent top speed, Raptee’s streamlined silhouette is designed to deliver a stunning and often surprising level of performance.

R&D has successfully delivered the first production-ready model, and a full-fledged launch is slated for April 2024. The company is hoping that the first display of Raptee at the investors‘ meet amidst a customer footfall ranging across all age groups, predominantly college students and bike enthusiasts, will translate into good demand at the launch of the product a few months from now. The company has already set up its first factory in Chennai spanning 4 acres, with a proposed investment of Rs 85 crore.

The facility, featuring a cutting-edge R&D center, will produce up to 1 lakh units annually, serving as the main production hub for the next 24 months, employing 470 individuals for manufacturing and design innovation, including a dedicated battery pack assembly line. Meanwhile, to provide customers with wider EV vehicle choices, BikeWo, India’s premier chain of multi-brand twowheeler EV showrooms, has announced a collaboration with Bounce Infinity, a smart mobility solution which will see Bounce Infinity’s entire range of scooters available through BikeWo’s extensive network of dealers and outlets. Bounce Infinity, a locally-made electric scooter, features removable batteries and adaptable charging, emphasizing easy upgrades for new technology.

It secured the ‘India Book of Records’ honour for the fastest northto- south expedition on an electric two-wheeler covering 4340 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir’s Khardung La Pass in 19 days.
