Kejriwal will skip seventh ED summons too

NewsKejriwal will skip seventh ED summons too

The Central probe agency once again issued a summons to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal will skip the 7th summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the money laundering case in Delhi Excise Policy. “ED action is political; summonses are meant to intimidate Kejriwal,” said Saurabh Bharadwaj. However Delhi BJP chief saidm “Kejriwal will surely face punishment for his corruption.”

The Central probe agency once again issued a summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday, February 22, in the liquor policy case and asked Kejriwal to appear before the agency on Monday, February 26, 2024, for questioning. Earlier, ED issued six summons to CM dated February 19, February 2, January 18, January 3, December 21, and November 2. However, Kejriwal skipped previous six summons and plans to skip the seventh summons as well.

Kejriwal said that he is cooperating with the probe agency. However, the Central agency should wait for the court’s judgment before issuing any fresh summons. Kejriwal said to the media: “We are giving them replies as per the law. Now, they have filed a case. ED should wait for the court’s judgment before issuing any fresh summons.”
A senior AAP leader said that CM Kejriwal will skip the seventh summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate because of the ongoing Delhi assembly. “CM will attend the Delhi assembly on Monday and will not appear for summons,” said the party leader.
He added, “The BJP is trying to arrest CM Kejriwal before the Lok Sabha election as they are afraid of the Aam Aadmi Party.”

Health Minister of Delhi Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “ED issued the seventh summons to Arvind Kejriwal. Earlier, the agency had gone to court before this, and the CM had told the court that a special budget session was ongoing, after which he was granted time until March 16.” Saurabh Bharadwaj further, accused ED of not honouring the court’s order and alleged that ED has been acting for political reasons and has been issuing illegal summonses to Kejriwal to intimidate him. “ED action is political; summons are meant to intimidate Kejriwal,” said Saurabh Bharadwaj.

On the other hand, the Delhi BJP chief said that Kejriwal will surely face punishment for his corruption. While they may delay punishment in court with the help of lawyers for a few months, the people of Delhi will deliver a harsh punishment to Kejriwal on voting day.
He added that Arvind Kejriwal is unable to accept that he has been involved in a major scandal regarding the liquor policy. He is confident that with the support of prominent lawyers, he will evade the investigative agencies and corruption charges, but soon the investigative agencies will do their job, and Arvind Kejriwal will have to reveal the truth to the people of Delhi, which the people already know.
