Views of about 30,000 electors of different sections in 20 out of total 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar were taken during the survey.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s image will benefit Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United in Lok Sabha elections, a survey stated.
Actually, it was believed that JDU may lose a considerable chunk of voters in Lok Sabha elections after its party chief Nitish Kumar had taken another U-turn by again joining BJP led NDA after dumping I.N.D.I.A bloc.
However as per a recent survey, the alliance with BJP may help JDU in regain the voters, which it has been fearing to lose after leaving I.N.D.I.A bloc. People of Bihar, according to the survey, are showing the propensity to vote in the name of PM Modi and not in the name of Nitish Kumar, who has been the long-standing chief minister of the state and enjoys the support of economically backward castes (EBC) and certain sections of other backward castes (OBC) as his traditional voters.
Views of about 30,000 electors of different sections in 20 out of total 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar were taken during the survey. About 1500 voters were contacted in each of the 20 Lok Sabha seats.
A senior surveyor said, “Last time, people voted for Nitish as well but now Nitish phenomenon is fading. One of the reasons is since 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he has flipped his sides twice. Once by betraying BJP and the second time by deserting opposition alliance. His fickle political nature has sent down a message that he is doing everything for power and not for people.” As per the survey, Yadavs and Muslims are vehemently favouring Congress and RJD, which is very much expected.
The surveyor added, “More than 80 percent Muslims and more than 70 percent Yadavs are with the opposition. Most of the other sections seem to be leaning towards PM Modi. And they mention his efforts for religious revival by building Ram Mandir and also good governance to be an issue they can vote upon. There is also a firm sentiment among a section of people that Modi doesn’t have to worry about inheriting anything to his offspring and therefore he won’t amass wealth.”
However, on the other side, opposition led by RJD in the state is sure about their redemption as the leaders suggest the creation of job opportunities by Tejaswi Yadav will surely pay dividends and help party gain momentum as well as seat count. A party insider said, “For now, JDU-BJP alliance seems to have an edge and some ground assessments suggest that we (opposition) may not get more than five seats but there are number of seats which will be closely contested, and our focus will be upon those seats.”
According to political analysts, “The people of Bihar have not changed its CM since almost couple of decades now. And such a symptom manifests that people are not aspiring for development or growth because they haven’t seen development and growth around them.
They will only want what they think is realistic. And they don’t find a lot of things realistic after Nitish’s rule.
However, there is a sentiment of Modi having performed well in governance. Since, electors are of the view beforehand that Modi is going to take the charge of the country again.
Majority of Bihar voters have already made their to vote in favour of Modi, they will do so even if JDU benefits from it. But the same electorate will falter to vote in assembly elections for Nitish given his past summersaults and anti-incumbency.
