ABVP wins VP and Secretary posts.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) poll results have finally been announced after a two-month delay, revealing an equal split between the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) across the four key posts. The elections, initially scheduled for September 28, were postponed due to concerns over campaign-related defacement.

In a historic outcome, the Congress-backed NSUI secured the President and Joint Secretary posts, while the RSS’ students’ wing, the ABVP won the Vice President and Secretary positions. NSUI’s Raunak Khatri triumphed as President, defeating ABVP’s Rishabh Chaudhary by a margin of 1,339 votes. Khatri garnered 20,207 votes, while Chaudhary received 18,868 votes.

For the Vice President post, ABVP’s Bhanu Pratap Singh defeated NSUI’s Yash Nandal by a decisive margin of 8,762 votes, securing 24,166 votes compared to Nandal’s 15,404. Similarly, in the race for Secretary, ABVP’s Mitravinda Karanwal emerged victorious over NSUI’s Namrata Jeph Meena with a margin of 1,467 votes, winning 16,703 votes against Meena’s 15,236. On the Joint Secretary post, NSUI’s Lokesh Choudhary defeated ABVP’s Aman Kapasiya by 6,726 votes, securing 21,975 votes compared to Kapasiya’s 15,249.

Expressing his gratitude, Raunak Khatri described the win as a historic moment achieved through relentless effort. “Students have rejected arrogance and superficiality. My focus will be on enhancing infrastructure and bridging the gap between students and administration,” he stated.

NSUI National President Varun Choudhary celebrated the victory, saying, “We have opened a ‘shop of love’ at DU. Winning the President post after seven years is a testament to the students’ trust in us.”

The ABVP acknowledged its victories on the Vice President and Secretary posts, thanking students for their steadfast support.

Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav hailed the NSUI’s success in the top posts as a sign of the youth wanting change in the national capital. He pledged that Congress and NSUI would foster an environment of constructive and non-political education on campus.
