TSG On WeekdaysMahakumbh 2025: CM Yogi Highlights Prayagraj's Role as a Global Hospitality Hub

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday stated that preparations for Mahakumbh 2025 are progressing rapidly, with seamless collaboration between the Central and State Governments and various departments. Speaking to journalists after reviewing the preparations in Prayagraj, he emphasized the extensive efforts being made, remarking, “Every institution is working diligently to ensure the success of this grand event.”

CM Yogi described Mahakumbh as more than just a religious festival, calling it a unique opportunity for Prayagraj to showcase its exceptional hospitality. He encouraged the residents of Prayagraj to actively contribute to the event’s success and help elevate the city’s global reputation.

The Chief Minister revealed that preparations for the monumental “Sanatan Gaurav Mahakumbh” are well underway. He shared that over 20,000 saints and institutions have been allocated land through a comprehensive registration process, including all 13 Akharas, Dandiwada, Acharyawada, Prayagwal Sabha, and Khak Chowk. He assured that allocations for remaining and newly registered institutions would be completed by January 5.

Highlighting the government’s commitment, CM Yogi noted that the “double-engine government” is ensuring adequate land and facilities to make this event a grand success. He outlined several key developments underway for Mahakumbh 2025, including the increase in pontoon bridges from 22 to 30, a first in Mahakumbh history. Of these, 20 bridges are already complete, with the remaining expected to be finished by December 30.

Additionally, 330 kilometers of the planned 651 kilometers of checkered plates have been laid, with work advancing swiftly. He also highlighted progress on signage installations, with 250 already placed in the fairgrounds and 661 installed across the city.

Efforts are also underway to ensure a clean and uninterrupted flow of the Ganga. The Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam is leading initiatives for water management, while the Irrigation Department is working to maintain sufficient water levels at the confluence. Functional sewage treatment plants (STPs) are preventing industrial and sewage effluents from entering the rivers. Bioremediation and geo-tube techniques are also being used to purify the water.

In terms of infrastructure, the Power Corporation is constructing 85 substations of 400 KVA, with 77 completed. Of 14 planned substations of 250 KVA, 12 are operational, alongside 94 of the 128 planned 100 KVA substations. Additionally, 1,160 kilometers of LT lines, 160 kilometers of HT lines, and nearly 48,000 LED streetlights have been installed. For the first time, Prayagraj will feature a riverfront along the Ganga, with new concrete ghats, including one in Arail, set to be completed by December 30.

The Chief Minister assured that both permanent and temporary works, such as the construction of jetties, are progressing on a war footing. The Health Department has established a temporary 100-bed hospital and multiple 25-bed facilities at various locations. First aid boxes and medical assistance will also be available to ensure comprehensive healthcare during the event.

Visitors will witness Prayagraj’s rich heritage through newly developed corridors like the Akshay Vat Corridor, inaugurated by the Prime Minister, and the Bade Hanuman Ji Corridor (Lete Hue Hanuman Ji Corridor). Other completed projects include the Saraswati Koop Corridor, Patalpuri Corridor, and Maharishi Bhardwaj Corridor. The Lord Ram and Nishad Raj Corridor in Shringaverpur have also been developed. Beautification and facade lighting of pilgrimage sites like Dwadash Jyotirlinga, Nagvasuki Temple, and other shrines have been completed, alongside a replica of the Dwadash Jyotirlinga crafted by the Municipal Corporation.

The grand development of Triveni Pushp, an initiative by former Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi, is being realized in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department and Parmarth Ashram. The construction of a Tent City is also progressing rapidly, with accommodations for 20,000 devotees and VIP tents for 5,000 to 6,000 people being prepared.

Robust security measures have been implemented, including the deployment of trained ‘Apda Mitras’ alongside NDRF and SDRF teams to assist devotees. CM Yogi reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to making Mahakumbh 2025 a historic and spiritually enriching experience.
