New Delhi: To ensure the safety of over 450 million devotees attending Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has implemented advanced security measures, including the deployment of anti-drone systems and a substantial increase in transportation services.
The Mahakumbh fair area has been equipped with a state-of-the-art anti-drone system to prevent unauthorized aerial activities. On the first day of its operation, this system detected and neutralized two unauthorized drones. Notices were issued to the operators involved. Senior Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi emphasized that no drone flights are permitted in the fair area without prior police approval, and any violations will result in strict legal action.
The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has initiated extensive measures to facilitate smooth transportation for devotees:
A fleet of 350 shuttle buses has been deployed, with operations commencing from January 13. These buses will operate on local routes to ensure seamless travel within the fair area.
Quick Response Teams (QRTs): QRTs have been stationed on seven routes leading to Prayagraj to handle emergencies effectively. Equipped with interceptor vehicles, these teams include enforcement officers and technical staff prepared to provide immediate assistance in case of operational or technical issues.
Eight temporary bus stations have been established within the fair area, supervised by Chief Manager-level officers and supported by retired advisors. Temporary workshops are set up nearby to address technical problems in buses arriving from different regions.
In the first phase of Mahakumbh, 2,000 buses will be operational. During the second phase, on key bathing dates like Mauni Amavasya, this number will rise to 7,000 buses, including 6,800 ordinary buses and 200 AC buses. Additionally, 200 city electric buses will operate as shuttles to enhance accessibility on these significant days.
To assist devotees, a 24/7 toll-free helpline (1800 1802 877) and a WhatsApp support number (9415049606) will be operational throughout the event, providing
immediate support and guidance.
These comprehensive measures reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and convenience of millions of attendees, highlighting its preparedness for handling such a large-scale cultural and spiritual gathering.
