Ordnance Equipment Factory (OEF) Hazratpur has received the Transfer of Technology (ToT) for the Su-30 aircraft’s brake parachute system from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) at Aero India 2025.
The formal handover was conducted by Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth to Amit Singh, General Manager of OEF Hazratpur, in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Defence (MoD), DRDO, and the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The brake parachute is crucial in assisting the safe landing deceleration of the Su-30 fighter jet, ensuring controlled stopping, particularly on shorter runways and in emergency conditions. This technology transfer is expected to strengthen India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
OEF Hazratpur has been engaged in developing and producing specialised technical parachutes, including aerial delivery systems and brake parachutes. The facility has collaborated with DRDO on several projects, reinforcing its role in India’s defence supply chain.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sanjay Seth highlighted the importance of this transfer in supporting the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which aims to boost indigenous defence production and reduce reliance on foreign suppliers.
Amit Singh, General Manager of OEF Hazratpur, expressed appreciation for the trust in the factory’s manufacturing capabilities, stating that it remains committed to advancing indigenous production to support India’s strategic defence needs.
OEF Hazratpur Introduces Multi-Spectral Camouflage Nets
In addition to receiving the Su-30 brake parachute ToT, OEF Hazratpur introduced a Multi-Spectral Camouflage Net at Aero India 2025. The new system represents a significant milestone in the factory’s transition from traditional textiles to advanced technical textiles for defence applications.
The Multi-Spectral Camouflage Nets are designed to enhance concealment across multiple spectrums, including visual, infrared (IR), and radar frequencies, ensuring improved protection for military personnel, vehicles, and equipment in diverse terrains.
Key Features of the Multi-Spectral Camouflage Nets:
- Advanced Multi-Spectral Protection – Effectively reduces detection by visual, infrared (thermal), and radar surveillance systems.
- Durability – Built to withstand extreme environmental conditions, including temperature fluctuations and UV exposure.
- Lightweight and Portable – Designed for easy deployment and transport, ensuring operational efficiency.
- Customisable – Available in various sizes and patterns to meet mission-specific requirements.
Since shifting focus towards technical textiles, OEF Hazratpur has invested in research and development, utilising modern technology and expertise to meet the growing needs of India’s defence and security sectors. The introduction of the Multi-Spectral Camouflage Net reflects its continued commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability.
At Aero India 2025, Amit Singh, General Manager of OEF Hazratpur, described the new system as a major step forward for the factory, adding that customised orders are now open to meet specific operational requirements.
Expanding Defence Production Capabilities
OEF Hazratpur operates under Troop Comforts Limited (TCL), a government
Amit Singh told TSG: “At Ordnance Equipment Factory, Hazratpur, a unit of TCL under the Ministry of Defence, we are committed to strengthening India’s defence self-reliance through cutting-edge technology. Our Multi-Spectral Camouflage Net (MSCN) is a game-changer in modern warfare, providing advanced concealment against enemy surveillance, including thermal, infrared, and radar detection. This indigenous innovation enhances the survivability of critical assets and personnel on the battlefield. Additionally, our Arrester Barriers ensure safe aircraft operations, while our advancements in drones bolster surveillance and logistics for defence and law enforcement. Through these products, we are not just manufacturing equipment—we are reinforcing India’s vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ in defence production.”
With its growing portfolio in defence and aerospace equipment and advanced technical textiles, OEF Hazratpur continues to expand its role as a key defence production unit, aligning with India’s broader vision of self-reliance in military technology.
