CBI registers case against Chhota Rajan

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against underworld don Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje, alias Chhota Rajan, and unknown public servants for helping the underworld don secure a passport in the false name of Mohan Kumar, who was shown to be residing in Karnataka.
Rajan, who was detained by Indonesian Police at Bali in the last week of October upon his arrival from Australia against a Red Corner Notice issued by the Interpol, was handed over to CBI-Interpol (India) for his deportation to India on 6 November.
Sources in the security agencies who have been questioning Rajan said he has been cooperating in the investigation so far. “The questioning is going on and till now, he has been cooperating with us,” an official with the security establishment said. Refusing to disclose the information shared by Rajan, the officials said that the questioning was going on decided lines that involves, but is not limited to, “Dawood’s (Dawood Ibrahim) interests and his accomplices in India”.
“We expect a lot of information from him which can be used in future to damage Dawood and his associates. Some new information has been shared with us, which needs to be verified,” the official quoted above said. 
Rajan has been remanded to 10 days’ custody for obtaining passport on the basis of forged documents. A case against Rajan and unknown government officials has been registered under U/s 120-B, 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 474 of IPC U/s 12 of Passports Act, 1967 and U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
