Michelin Star Chef Vikas Khanna launched Om Book Shop’s flagship store last week at Ambience Mall, Gurgaon. Om already has eight outlets across the Delhi/NCR region. Khanna also launched his own new book My Great India Cookbook at the event. My Great India Cookbook has been published by Penguin India and has more than 130 recipes from around the country put together in it. Recognising the seemingly infinite variety which India has to offer by way of cuisine, the author travelled extensively across the country to understand the little nuances and idiosyncrasies in vogue in different places. Speaking on the occasion, Khanna said, “I was in Bodhgaya (Bihar) where I spent the New Year at the Kalachakra with the Dalai Lama. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the food of Bihar. Spending time with the Dalai Lama itself was a symbol of renewal for me. That meeting in itself sowed the seeds of this book. It was a very auspicious start.” Khanna is a familiar face on television as the host of Master Chef India. In the past, he has also appeared on the documentary series Holy Kitchens. Poonam Kaul, Director (Communications), Nokia India, Middle East and Africa, who launched the book with Khanna, said “Vikas Khanna sums up tradition and modernity in the new Indian context. I am proud to be associated with his endeavour and appreciate what he represents to the world as an individual and as an Indian.”
