I am not afraid of jail: Om Prakash Chautala

NewsI am not afraid of jail: Om Prakash Chautala

In an exclusive interview, former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala shed light on his extraordinary life experiences and leadership principles. From his extensive travels to his time behind bars, Chautala’s story is one of determination, resilience, and following in his father’s footsteps. Excerpts:
Q: We would like to start by asking how many countries have you visited?
A: I have visited 152 countries. During my time as Chief Minister, I used to travel by plane or train, but I never travelled in upper class.
Q: So, you usually travelled in economy class?
A: Yes, that’s correct. I preferred to travel in economy class.
Q: Many people admire you for your successful administration. Could you share how you became such a successful administrator?
A: I didn’t need to learn this. I have always followed in my father’s footsteps. As for my daily routine, I am a very active person, meeting a lot of people in a day.
Q: It’s impressive to see your dedication. On a different note, you mentioned previously about spending time in jail. Could you tell us about that experience?
A: I am not afraid of jail. In fact, if I were to go to jail again, I would be a graduate. I completed my class 10 and class 12 while in jail.
Q: That’s quite remarkable. Shifting focus to your time as the Chief Minister, you mentioned that no officer used to drink alcohol at night due to fear of being summoned by the Chief Minister. Could you elaborate on that?
A: Yes, during our government’s time, officers refrained from drinking alcohol at night because they were afraid of being summoned by the Chief Minister.
Q: Lastly, I would like to discuss Abhay Ji’s Parivartan Yatra. What can you tell us about the response to this journey?
A: The Parivartan Yatra signifies a change in power. I believe this expedition has helped improve Abhay Ji’s image, as there was previously misinformation against him. People accused him of making MLAs sit in an airplane and beating them. This journey has showcased Abhay Ji’s determination and efficiency as a politician.
