Paris Fashion week

At this year’s Paris Fashion week, organic fashion took centre stage. Designer Stella McCartney showcased her Spring 2017 ready-to-wear collection that specialises in sustainable fashion. Hollywood star Emma Watson recently collaborated with the indie design house Veja to release a new minimalist sneaker. The company uses eco-friendly production methods. 

New York Fashion week

Assamese designer Aditi Holani opened the Lakmé Fashion week Winter/Festive 2016 by showcasing homegrown textiles with eight gorgeous black and red Mekhela Chadors that were beautiful and elegant. Bollywood star Sara Jane Dias added more glamour to the event by walking the ramp as the showstopper in a slashed, multi-coloured skirt teamed with a black blouse.

Famous designer, John Patrick paid tribute to the filmmaker Michelangelo Antonioni at the New York Fashion week in his Spring/Summer 2014 collection, which showcased the sensual label of understated glamour. Patrick collection was of nebulous silk and organic cotton-voile dresses, high-waisted circle skirts in wool, and ultra-fine recycled cotton-and-nylon knits. 

London Fashion week

Shillong-based designer Rupert Wanlambok Lynrah showcased his label RWL Designs’ exquisitely woven collection of apparel at the recent London Fashion Week. He had displayed his traditional Khasi-Jaintia designs but with a pinch of modern twist. The clothing line featured ryndia (eri silk) and muga silk to celebrate eco-fashion and to revive Meghalaya’s rich indigenous textiles. The fabrics which were used for the clothing line are natural, organic, and eco-friendly.
