Shangri-La’s-Eros Hotel, New Delhi recently launched Mister Chai. It is a tea restaurant launched exclusively for all the tea lovers. Mister Chai is curated to give customers a local ‘tea shop feel’ with its exotic environment. It also focuses on regional Indian street food and beverages with emphasis on tea.
It is conceptualised by the renowned Dubai based interior design company Stickman Designs. Mister Chai is an intimate and relaxed space with a seating capacity of up to 50 guests and complimented by a beautifully detailed brass balustrade, with each bookend creating a beautiful design detail.
Different in its interiors, its antique mirror walls add depth. Brass shelving is suspended delicately from the ceiling, presenting the unique varieties on offer. Each feature adds its own distinctive outlook to create the perfect ambience for guests to relax and savour the delicacies on offer.
The lounge offers an engaging Masala Chai action station and a delectable miscellany of pastries displayed in intricately designed jewellery boxes in a stunning culinary display, which further enhances the quiet luxury of the restaurant.
Unlike a conventional tea lounge, Mister Chai is also a dining destination in its own right. Popular Indian street food has been re-invented and presented in exceptional style. Experienced and talented chefs under the guidance of Executive Chef, Neeraj Tyagi have collaborated to lay out a menu that is as creative as it is well thought out.
The menu has a variety of regional dishes with a modern touch and twist. Namkeen ka Dabba which is also known as the famous Indian savoury teatime snack, comprises Ajwain Matthi, Curry Patta Peanuts and Cheese Fan, giving palates the perfect mouth watering punch.
Wow Pao is a modern take on the native Maharashtran snack consisting of aperitifs, such as the Goan Chorizo Pao, Shikampuri Pao or even the classic Vada Pao. Continuing with the Maharashtran – inspired relishes, the menu also contains a ‘Taste of Mumbai’ section comprising classics, such as Colaba Fish Fry Sandwich, Bun Maska and much more, which encapsulate the authentic flavours of Maharashtra. The Chaat Pe Charcha selection comprises Corn Bhel, Kale Pakora Chaat and Shakarkandi Chaat, encapsulating flavours in sync with the most popular street food in New Delhi.
The menu also has a section called the Firangi Twist which helps cater to the most discerning of palates, and includes such noteworthy dishes as Chocolate Toast, which is toasted brioche bread layered with melted Cadbury silk chocolate and Chicken Khurchan Tacos comprising slowly cooked chicken, guacamole, tomato chutney and garlic yoghurt all wrapped in a roti.
The tea restaurant also comprises an exclusive selection of international sandwiches in the menu under a section named Bikini Barcelona’s take on finger sandwiches, such as Grilled Multigrain Sandwich with Cheddar Cheese and Fig Jam, Turkey Ham Sandwich with Avacado, Tomatoes, Cheese and Rocket Leaves and many such international flavours.
