Bangalore-based independent and collective label Consolidate, which began as a Facebook community in 2013 is all set to release its second release as a label — the compilation ‘FRNDS & FMLY 2016’. The album features some of the freshest and exciting Indian producers from Bangalore and around the world.
The label came in limelight after the release of their track called Peach Tea in July – a collaborative single featuring experimental electro-acoustic group Machli and experimental producers like Disco Puppet and Skippy. The label was founded by _RHL (Rahul Giri)who is also one half of Sulk Station – is considered one of the instigators of India’s burgeoning alternative electronic scene.
Consolidate mostly shared music coming out from Bangalore on their Facebook page. This was followed by the Mix (mixtape) series — another attempt to showcase upcoming producers from Bangalore. “The agenda was the same – creation of space for up-and-coming producers from Bangalore. There was really no set qualifier as far as sound goes. I was basically reaching out to people whose music I liked and found interesting,” says Giri, founder of Consolidate.
FRNDS & FMLY 2016 features eight tracks by some of the most original and exciting new artists in the Indian alternative music scene, a majority of whom reside in Bangalore like producers _RHL, Disco Puppet, Oceantied, Worm’s Cottage and Aerate Sound  who have all contributed to the compilation alongside Pardafash from Delhi, Zubin Aroz and Aniruddh Menon from Dubai.
The music on FRNDS & FMLY 2016 is vivid, refreshing and textured. It is also a statement on the country’s talent that blends hip-hop, electronica and Bollywood beats in order to create an exceptional brand of music.
The compilation is a sample for what the year holds for Consolidate. It contains tracks from upcoming albums of Disco Puppet and Worm’s Cottage.
