Following the Sunjuwan Army camp attack, in which six soldiers and a civilian were killed, the Army’s top brass has decided to go pro-active on entire LoC including in Kashmir Valley to check infiltration from across the border.
Army Chief Bipin Rawat has said that local commanders of the Army all along the Line of Control (LoC) have been given complete freedom to retaliate and take “punitive action” against aggressors.
Reports said that in the past one week, the Army has taken a lot of punitive actions all along the LoC. “In Balakote Sector of Poonch not only the infiltration was repulsed, but punitive action was taken in the sector,” said the Army spokesman at Jammu.
Latest intelligence inputs from across the border available with the Army say that more than 400 militants are ready to infiltrate during the coming summer and the Army has decided to minimise infiltration by launching coordinated fire assaults on Pakistan along the LoC to dominate the border areas.
