The Central Bureau of Investigation has said in its charge-sheet that actress Jiah Khan was forced to commit suicide because of the “wilful conduct” of the accused in the case, Suraj Pancholi, who recently debuted in a movie produced by actor Salman Khan.
The CBI has said that after Jiah became pregnant with Suraj’s child, both Jiah and Suraj visited a doctor together on 16 January 2013 to seek medical advice on terminating the pregnancy.
On 21 January, Suraj called the consulting doctor and told that Jiah was in the bathroom and the “foetus was stuck inside” after which the doctor advised him to take Jiah to a nearby hospital. However, rather than taking her to the doctor, Suraj, as per the CBI investigation, “pulled out the remaining foetus himself”, after which he called the doctor to inform him about it. The investigation report says that just seven days after the abortion, Jiah sustained injuries on the neck and shoulder, which as per Jiah’s admission to one of her friends, was the result of the beating she got from Suraj.
The CBI during its investigation found that “Jiah used to clean the rooms of the flats of Pancholi and used to iron the dresses of the accused and keep them in the cupboard. She also used to clean and arrange the dining table, purchase decorative articles to decorate the living room and bedroom of the accused.”
The CBI stated that the accused Pancholi “refused to undergo forensic tests when requested by the investigators and that statements given by him were incomplete on relevant issues”.
According to the CBI, a three-page suicide note that was recovered from Jiah’s home “clearly establishes the physical abuse and mental torture that she experienced”.
