India and Israel are broadening their strategic relationship with increased activity on joint exercises as well as key technology transfer. The Indian government will soon acquire advanced Israeli border defence systems which will secure our borders further. Additionally, Israeli pilots will conduct a joint flying exercise part of an “air crew exchange” this month. Interestingly, an exchange of such kind has never taken place before between the two countries. It is understood that the flying exercise will revolve around the F-16. The Israeli Air Force boasts of some of the most feared pilots and a joint exercise with Indian top-guns will serve both in good stead. Israel’s Ramon Air Force Base hosted a team of Indian aces in May this year. The Indian air force combat squadron met IAF Unit 669 (search and rescue) and visited the Hatzerim flying school.
