BJP’s Shekhawat confident of hat-trick win

NewsBJP’s Shekhawat confident of hat-trick win

Congress has replaced its last time candidate Vaibhav Gehlot with Karan Singh Uchiyarda.

BJP’s Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is confident of hat-trick win from Rajasthan’s Jodhpur as Congress has replaced its last time candidate Vaibhav Gehlot with Karan Singh Uchiyarda.

Jodhpur has always been a popular seat as Rajasthan’s three-time Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s belongs to here but despite that, BJP’s Gajendra Singh Shekhawat emerged victorious from this seat twice in 2014 and 2019.

Union Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat defeated none other than former CM Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav Gehlot with a huge margin of over 2.70 lakh votes in 2019.

This time, Vaibhav Gehlot has been shifted to the nearby Jalore constituency. BJP has once again fielded Gajendra Singh Shekhawat whereas Congress has fielded Rajput candidate Karan Singh Uchiyarda. So, it will be Rajput versus Rajput from Jodhpur in this Lok Sabha election.

Congress candidate Karan Singh Uchiyarda has been voicing the issue of outsiders versus local candidates. Now, discussions have begun about whether the outsider versus local issue will dominate Jodhpur this time.

However, after statements made by Karan Singh, Shekhawat has put a counter question to Congress that Vaibhav Gehlot despite being from Jodhpur has been fielded from Jalore.

Shekhawat hails from the Shekhawati region. However, he studied in Jodhpur and has been residing there for a long time.

On the other hand, Karan Singh is a native resident of Jodhpur. He also holds influence within his community in this area. In this scenario, Congress believes that fielding Karan Singh will benefit both him and their party. This is why the issue of outsiders versus locals is being raised in Jodhpur this time.

According to the caste demographics, Jodhpur Lok Sabha seat is a Rajput majority constituency, with significant Muslim, Bishnoi, Brahmin, Jat, and Mool OBC communities playing crucial roles. Among the significant communities, Rajputs have 440,000 voters, Muslims have 290,000, Bishnois have 180,000, Brahmins have 140,000, Meghwal and Jat communities have 140,000 each, while Mali community has 100,000 voters. The Vaishya community has around 70,000 voters, also playing a significant role. Additionally, the SC/ST category holds over four lakh voters. Apart from Meghwals and Malis, other OBC communities, including Kumars, Ravana Rajputs, Suthars, Charans, Sains, Patels, Ghanchis, Devasis, Darjis, Vaishnavs, and other decisive communities, have over four lakh voters, contributing significantly.

As far as the recent assembly elections are concerned, BJP won seven out of eight assembly seats, falling under Jodhpur parliamentary seat. Both parties are claiming victory.

While Shekhawat has trust in PM Modi and believes that people will vote for him after seeing construction of grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya along with numerous development works and ‘Modi ki Guarantee’.
