BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao will embark on a 120-day tour of the state from July.
NEW DELHI: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has kick-started its election preparations and have gone into full poll mode. Moreover, BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao will embark on a 120-day state-wide tour from July to ensure that his party is progressing on all fronts.
The coming 2 June is seen to play an important role in the campaign blitzkrieg of KCR. A Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader said, “The day is significant in the state’s history for the sustained Telangana movement through the years. The state of Telangana was officially formed on 2 June 2014. We would now be entering the 10th year. So, K. Chandrashekhar Rao is trying to make this day a platform wherefrom he can start his public outreach with a bang. The process of assimilating all the welfare schemes launched by KCR has already began. Public welfare schemes will be talked about on the day. K. Chandrasekhar Rao will tell people what his government has done in all these years. The new secretariat has also been receiving the CM (KCR) very often and everything is being reviewed.”
Moreover, in the Opposition camps, several leaders believe that KCR is trying to create an air for himself of winning and thus he has started lying to his party leaders in order to motivate them. The allegations of KCR lying, according to sources, emerged after the Telangana CM declared to his party leaders that their party is going to win from 92 to 105 seats. A BRS leader said, “We were told that we would be able to form government for the third time easily to which the Opposition reacted sharply.”
He added, “There is this environment in the state that KCR will come back to power. It could be like that there will be less seats. Last time, we won 88 seats, this time it could be less in the least and that is all, but we will win. We only need more than 60 seats to form the government and we will do it.”
A political analyst based in Hyderabad told The Sunday Guardian, “Politics is all about perception and KCR is the master of perception. There hasn’t been even a single time recently where it seemed that he is getting defensive. Plus, there are no strong leaders in Opposition camps. Neither does the Congress have any dynamic leader nor does the BJP have any. There may be growing opposition due to anti-incumbency, but there is no one in the Opposition to be able to adequately translate them into votes. He continuously adjusts his strategies according to situation. He is flexible and enjoys a very good command over the party legislators.”
Party leaders believe that the revolution which was started in Telangana with the formation of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in 2001, KCR wants the revolution to continue and also wants his refurbished formation to play an important role in national politics.
A party insider said, “KCR has kick-started his political venture and he knows where he is going. If Congress fails to bring its house in order and involves in bickering before elections, much of the benefit will go to the BRS. Then, anti-incumbency may turn into pro-incumbency for KCR.”
