Emphasis is being laid on giving representation to other castes and classes.

NEW DELHI: The new team of the Delhi unit of BJP may be announced soon. It is being said that state BJP president Virender Sachdeva has taken consent from the central leadership of the party. The new team could be announced in the coming week.
In the new team, emphasis is being laid on giving representation to other castes and classes along with members from Bania, Punjabi and Purvanchali communities. However, many new and energetic faces are also being given bigger responsibilities.
Changes will be seen on all levels of the party unit. The party is planning to change all district chiefs. Many circles in charge could be given responsibilities as district chiefs. A big change is also possible in the upper team of the Delhi BJP.According to sources close to the party, Vice President Rajeev Babbar, General Secretary Dinesh Pratap Singh, and General Secretary Kuljeet Chahal will not be able to secure important positions in the new team. Jaiveer Rana, the state vice president who is now a corporator, might also not be a part of the new team.
As per a BJP leader, the party is also planning to change various other functionaries, who are leading various fronts in the party. The presidents of all the youth and women fronts are also being considered for replacement. There is discussion in the party that no front or cell has played a crucial role in the municipal elections held in December 2022.
In the last year’s local body election, Delhi BJP lost to AAP after 15 years of continuous rule inthe MCD. At that time, the Delhi BJP was fighting the election under the leadership of Adesh Gupta, who later resigned after the announcement of the results.
In the 2022 MCD election, AAP won 134 seats and BJP got 104 seats and Congress, which lost its ground in the national capital, was only able to secure 9 seats.Keeping factionalism in mind, Delhi BJP’s senior leadership has also decided that some of the present office bearers will not be made office bearers again, but some of these people will be given other big responsibilities.
The biggest challenge before the Delhi BJP leadership is now the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024. There is a challenge before state chief Sachdeva to form a new team, keeping factionalism and Lok Sabha elections in mind. The new team will also lead the party for the Delhi Assembly elections to be held in 2025, so some new hardworking and reliable people could be given responsibilities.
