Farooq tries to cosy up to BJP, gives a jolt to I.N.D.I Alliance

NewsFarooq tries to cosy up to BJP, gives a jolt to I.N.D.I Alliance

Farooq Abdullah has jolted the I.N.D.I Alliance by saying that his doors and windows are open for a future alliance at the Centre, while hinting that his National Conference may go it alone in the coming parliamentary polls in Jammu and Kashmir. Abdullah told media recently that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working for the country and if invited by PM and Union Home Minister Amit Shah he would go and talk about the future political alliance. Congress and other allies are already trying to survive the jolts especially after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar formed the government with BJP and decided to be the part of NDA for future.

The latest utterances by Dr Abdullah have paved the way in Jammu and Kashmir for the contours of the coming Assembly elections. “In Jammu region, BJP is confident to win. In Kashmir, National Conference has ground support from the common people. There could be a BJP-NC coalition government in J&K,” said a former National Conference minister, who is a strong supporter of the post-poll alliance with the BJP if the numbers are not in favour of NC. Farooq Abdullah is facing a lot of heat from the investigating agencies especially from ED. He skipped the latest summons by ED and is trying to mend fences with the BJP. It is in place to mention that Farooq Abdullah was recently summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with alleged financial irregularities within the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.

As the I.N.D.I Alliance is scrambling to survive, former Chief Minister and son of Farooq Abdullah, Omar tried to allay the fears of I.N.D.I Alliance about their jumping ship. Omar Abdullah said that NC will remain part of the I.N.D.I Alliance and claimed that they were in talks with Congress for three parliamentary segments of Jammu and Ladakh. Omar Abdullah according to the media reports is trying to do the tightrope walking for the coalition which is being stitched in Jammu and Kashmir. Archrivals PDP and National Conference are both in I.N.D.I Alliance and Mehbooba Mufti is yet to react to the recent comments by Farooq Abdullah about going it alone in parliamentary polls in Jammu and Kashmir. Former Chief Minister and former alliance partner of BJP, Mehbooba Mufti is in favour of a complete alliance with National Conference and Congress to defeat BJP in Jammu and Kashmir.
