BJP celebrated Delhi win, with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini promising better governance.
Chandigarh: Celebrations erupted in BJP offices in Haryana following saffron party’s resounding victory in the Delhi Assembly elections Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini promised the people of Delhi sufficient and clean water from the Yamuna, addressing a key election issue- rising pollution in the river, which is often called the lifeline of the national capital.
In his address to the media, Saini accused former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of neglecting basic amenities and indulging in blame games. He stated that he would visit Delhi on Saturday and hold a press conference.
“Delhi’s citizens were deprived of clean water, quality education, and basic facilities under the previous government,” Saini said while addressing a gathering in Kurukshetra.
“Kejriwal blamed Haryana for the rising pollution in the Yamuna to cover up his failures. The people of Delhi will now get clean water, as our government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will ensure it”, he added.
Saini performed prayers at Jyotisar, offering respects under the historic banyan tree believed to be a witness to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. His visit turned into a celebration as supporters welcomed him with flowers, drums, and fireworks. Former Minister Subhash Sudha and BJP district president Sushil Rana offered him sweets, including jalebi, to mark the occasion.
Saini accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of running a corrupt government that ignored the welfare of Delhiites. He claimed that Kejriwal’s governance style was rooted in communist ideology, prioritising self-interest over public welfare.
“The people of Delhi have trusted Modi’s welfare schemes for all sections of society and have rejected AAP’s corrupt and disastrous policies,” Saini said.
Referring to allegations of Haryana polluting the Yamuna, Saini said, “The people of Haryana will never mix poison in the water. Kejriwal tried to defame Haryana to hide his own shortcomings. But now, with a BJP government in Delhi, the double-engine government will work tirelessly to ensure development and prosperity for all.”
Saini thanked the people of Delhi for reposing faith in the BJP.
“Under Modi’s leadership, our government will implement welfare schemes that uplift every section of society. For the past decade, Delhi’s citizens were denied access to clean water, good education, and adequate healthcare. That will change now,” he promised.
Union Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also congratulated BJP workers and took a dig at Kejriwal, saying, “The people of Delhi were distressed and expressed their anger at the ballot box. Kejriwal’s black deeds and Congress’s declining influence have been exposed. The public cannot be misled repeatedly.”
Saini concluded his address by reaffirming the BJP’s commitment to providing Delhi with clean water, improved infrastructure, and better governance.
“The people of Delhi will now experience the difference that a double-engine government can bring.”
Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma also congratulated the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leadership for landslide victory in Delhi.
“Hearty congratulations and best wishes to the people of Delhi and devoted party (BJP) workers on the resounding victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Delhi Assembly elections”, the Rajya Sabha MP shared in a post on his X account.
