CHANDIGARH: PM Modi pledges to protect reservations and highlights BJP’s development agenda while launching election campaign in Haryana.Accusing the Gandhi family of attempting to abolish reservations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that as long as Modi is here, nobody will be allowed to snatch reservation from poors.
“But as long as Modi is here, I will not let even an ounce of reservation be taken away,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while launching t BJP’s election campaign in Kurukshetra of Haryana. Addressing a well-attended rally for 23 candidates of northern districts, Modi asserted that the state is set to give the BJP a hat-trick victory in the upcoming assembly polls.Modi emphasised that Haryana’s development is critical for India’s progress towards becoming a developed nation.Launching a scathing attack on Congress, the prime minister highlighted BJP’s accomplishments in the last decade compared to Congress’ legacy of limited development. “During Congress rule, development money was confined to just one district,” Modi said, subtly hinting at allegations of corruption. “Every child in Haryana knows where that money went,” he added, positioning BJP as the party of transparency and growth.
Modi took the opportunity to showcase BJP’s plans for the future, reiterating the party’s commitment to rapid development. He announced a significant extension to the Ayushman Bharat scheme, offering free treatment worth Rs 5 lakh to all senior citizens over 70 years of age.
“Two days ago, we made a very big decision that will benefit lakhs of families in Haryana,” Modi revealed, emphasising BJP’s focus on improving healthcare access for the elderly. Moreover, the prime minister spotlighted the party’s initiatives aimed at uplifting farmers and the underprivileged. “I had promised that the first 100 days of BJP’s government would be filled with big decisions. We have already started projects worth Rs 15 lakh crore,” he said, announcing that 3 crore pucca houses have been approved for poor families under various schemes.
PM Modi lauded Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who is contesting the election from Kurukshetra, for his dedication to the state’s development.
“Our chief minister is a son of Haryana, and today, he is being praised across the country. Few people achieve such widespread support in such a short time,” Modi noted, further urging voters to re-elect the BJP-led government.Highlighting Haryana’s rise to one of India’s top-performing states in terms of investment and income, Modi positioned the state as a critical component of his broader vision for national progress. “Haryana has reached the top in terms of development, and the BJP government has ensured that every corner of the state benefits,” he said.The prime minister attacked Congress, accusing it for its failed promises. Drawing a stark comparison between BJP-led Haryana and Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh, he said, “In Himachal, Congress made false promises, and now the citizens are facing the consequences. Government employees are forced to go on strike for salaries, and essential commodities like electricity, water, and petrol have become expensive under Congress rule.” He went on to describe the turmoil in Himachal as a warning for voters in Haryana, asserting that Congress has consistently failed to deliver on its commitments.
“There is no party more deceitful than Congress. In Himachal, women are still waiting for the Rs 1500 that was promised to them,” he remarked, cautioning the people of Haryana not to fall for Congress’ empty promises.
PM Modi reflected on the cultural significance of Kurukshetra and urged the people to extend their trust to the BJP once again. “This land of the Gita, the Saraswati civilisation, and the sixth Patshahi of Guru Gobind Singh Ji inspires us all. I ask for your support to continue the work we have started,” he said, amid cheers from the crowd.
As Haryana gears up for the Assembly elections on October 5, BJP is pulling out all the stops to secure a third consecutive term. The state’s voters will choose 90 members for the Legislative Assembly, with the results to be declared on October 8.
