Launching The Sunday Guardian and several news channels of ITV network last Sunday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde congratulated the founder, Member of Rajya Sabha Kartikeya Sharma and also congratulated all the award winners at the event.
Speaking at the event held on February 18, Shinde said, “The launch of ITV happened in 2006 and now it has news channels including NewsX, India news and the newspaper The Sunday Guardian. There are 1200 people working in the network and in Haryana there is 75 percent of market held by ITV. The Sunday Guardian was started in 2010 and Mumbai edition is getting started today (February 18). And in today’s Friends of Mumbai awards, people who are working for the people and helping people out, we also have responsibility in the same way towards the people of Mumbai and for the people of Maharashtra.”
Shinde also said that those who are serving people of Maharashtra, “We have honoured them by awarding them. They have also started a media school (in Mumbai), they have started it from today (February 18). Under one roof they are doing everything. Around 800 people will be trained in that school. That means 800 more media persons will come up. That is why I want to thank you (Kartikeya Sharma). I also want to tell you that since you are established in English and Hindi media, now you should come in Marathi media as well. I want to congratulate you for this bright beginning.”
“You are giving jobs to many people and there is an expertise you have in media channels in every state. You know Mumbai is an international city, and it is our economic and financial hub, now Mumbai is also changing, you can see that Mumbai is becoming clean and now all the streets we will make them concrete. Its beautification is going on, moreover on a large scale we are planting trees and increasing green cover. We have started deep clean drive. We have mobilised manpower and machinery”, he added.
Shinde also said, “Global warming is a global issue, it is our worry and Mumbai being an international city we receive people from across the world. When G-20 happened here, we got to do branding and showcase of our place. I give you blessings that you quickly come up with a Marathi channel.”
