Like Chhattisgarh, there are no plans to make any new appointments in Rajasthan, neither in the Congress organization nor in the government. After appointing T.S. Singh Deo as Deputy Chief Minister in Chhattisgarh, attempts are being made in the media to keep Rajasthan’s politics on the boil again, but according to party sources, nothing like that is going to happen. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has decided to include rebel leader Sachin Pilot in the central organization or make him the head of the campaign committee. However, prior to this decision, a meeting will be held with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Congress President Rahul Gandhi. This meeting was scheduled for 1 July, but due to Chief Minister Gehlot’s injury, it is not yet decided when the next meeting will take place. Doctors have advised Gehlot to rest for seven days for now. He is working from his residence.
However, during this time, Sachin Pilot and his supporters are still engaged in destabilizing the government and the organization. But it has been decided that Sachin Pilot will neither be made Deputy Chief Minister nor state president. According to sources, Sachin Pilot did make an attempt to become the state president. However, the high command clearly refused. Then he asked to appoint another Jat leader in his place. By doing so, he wanted to send a message that he has removed Dotasara. In 2020, due to the efforts to topple the government, Sachin Pilot was removed from the position of state president and Dotasara was appointed as the President. This appointment was recommended by Rahul Gandhi.
Actually, Sachin was aiming to achieve two targets with one arrow. His suggestion was to make Dotasra the Deputy Chief Minister and another Jat leader as the party president, which was highly unlikely. The Jat community could not be given both positions. Alakh Alokamann was not prepared for this. Rahul Gandhi and the organization’s general secretary, K.C. Venugopal, have praised Dotasra’s work multiple times. Chief Minister Gehlot is not already prepared for any kind of changes.
Therefore, Sachin Pilot will have to accept the position of campaign committee or party general secretary. Even the case of Sachin and T. Singh Deo is completely different. T. Singh Deo neither revolted nor attempted to overthrow the government. He remained loyal to the party, whereas Sachin tried to topple the government by collaborating with legislators.
Due to Chief Minister Gehlot’s alertness, the operation did not succeed. Even after that, the party is currently making only one effort to maintain the favourable atmosphere for the Congress in the state and present a united front. Therefore, instead of taking action against Sachin, the party has kept him on board.
Without Chief Minister Gehlot’s consent, no decision is possible in Rajasthan because it is due to his schemes that Congress has gained significant momentum. His plans played a major role in the victories in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka. The BJP also knows that Gehlot’s schemes are making an impact. That’s why Home Minister Amit Shah specifically targeted Chief Minister Gehlot during his visit to Rajasthan. He attempted to corner the Chief Minister on women’s safety and deteriorating law and order. However, the state president Dotasra responded to all the allegations in a systematic manner.
