The team also visited Minister Atishi’s home, but notice was reportedly not accepted there.
The Crime Branch team of Delhi Police on Saturday served a notice at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence asking him to join a probe over AAP’s claim that the BJP was trying to poach AAP MLAs, the sources said.
The team also visited Minister Atishi’s home, but notice was reportedly not accepted there, the sources said. Subsequently, the Delhi Police team returned without taking any action.
Earlier drama unfolded at CM’s residence as the team led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)-level officer insisted they will hand over the notice to Kejriwal only as it is on his name, while officials at the CM’s residence said they are ready to take the notice and give a receiving.
Delhi CMO sources claimed, “The CM office is ready to accept the notice. Crime Branch officers are not giving it to the CM office.”
The Delhi Police Crime Branch team reached Kejriwal’s residence on Saturday morning to serve notice in connection with AAP’s allegation against the BJP “of trying to buy AAP MLAs.”
According to police sources, police officials yesterday also came here to serve the notice. “The notice is given only to those who have been named in it, so police officials once again came to sever the notice to Kejriwal, the police sources said. The Delhi Police has asked him to provide evidence in support of AAP’s allegation.
On the other hand, the CMO officials said, Delhi Police had accompanied media teams intentionally to create a drama and tarnish the Chief Minister’s image.
In a recent press briefing, Atishi, a senior leader of the AAP, asserted that the BJP is executing “Operation Lotus 2.0” to destabilise the democratically elected AAP government in Delhi. Allegedly, seven AAP MLAs have been approached by the BJP, claiming that Arvind Kejriwal will be arrested soon, leading to a potential split among AAP MLAs. The BJP is reportedly in contact with 21 AAP MLAs, aiming to topple the Delhi government.
Atishi disclosed that these MLAs have been offered Rs 25 crore each. Operation Lotus, a BJP strategy seen in several states, is denied by the BJP. Atishi stated that the AAP possesses a recording of one such conversation and may release it if needed. In response, the BJP, through leader Kapil Mishra, dismissed Kejriwal’s claims, accusing him of consistently lying and avoiding crucial questions.
