Promises galore in Congress’ Haryana poll manifesto

NewsPromises galore in Congress’ Haryana poll manifesto

Chandigarh: The Congress party recently unveiled its election manifesto in Haryana, focusing on key areas such as farmers’ welfare, women’s empowerment, and youth employment ahead of the October 5 polls. The manifesto, released by former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and other party leaders, promises comprehensive support across various demographics.

Among its major promises is financial support for women aged 18-60, with Rs 2,000 per month under the Indira Ladli Behen Yojna, reflecting similar initiatives seen in other states like Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The Congress also committed to legalizing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops and establishing a Farmers’ Welfare Commission. This aims to ensure fair compensation for farmers, with additional benefits such as diesel subsidies via a farmer diesel card.

To honor the farmers who died during the farm law protests, Congress vowed to grant them “martyr” status, offer government jobs to their families, and build a memorial in their honor. Similarly, the families of soldiers who died in the line of duty would receive Rs 2 crore and educational support for their children. In an effort to boost employment, Congress pledged the creation of two lakh permanent government jobs.

Additionally, the manifesto highlighted an ambitious social security plan, which includes a monthly pension of Rs 6,000 for the elderly, disabled individuals, and widows, along with 300 units of free electricity for households.
Other key promises include free medical treatment up to Rs 25 lakh for families and measures to tackle social issues.
