The wide and narrow roads

opinionThe wide and narrow roads

Vincent Singh was the apple of his mother’s eye. Even as a child he was loving, responsible and respectful.

As he matured and entered his college years, Vincent continued to walk on the right path, fulfilling his duties as a son and as a brother. He tried always to obey and please his parents.

One day he came home after attending a Gospel meeting and told his parents, “Mom and Dad, I am a sinner. I need to invite Jesus into my heart to be saved.”

His parents and siblings were amazed to hear Vincent declare himself to be a sinner. Vincent was an ideal son and sibling. Why would God judge him to be a sinner? Vincent explained to his family that the Bible says, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God,” in Rom. 3:23.

He also told them that the Bible says, “To as many as believed in Him, He gave the power to become sons of God.” Believing in God was the key to becoming a child of God.

Vincent knelt down at his bedside and asked the Lord Jesus to be his Saviour. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation. Behold old things are passed away and all things are become new,” 1 Cor. 5:17. By God’s Vincent became a new creation. He now joyfully lived by faith in Christ. He now wanted to do what his Heavenly Father wanted.

Are we trying in your own strength to do what is right or have we experienced God’s enabling to walk on the narrow way? Matthew 7:13 and 14 reads, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Vincent found the narrow road to heaven. Which path are we walking on?
