Weather Today, 15 April 2026: India is witnessing a rapid shift toward peak summer conditions as temperatures climb sharply across northern, central and southern regions. According to the India Meteorological Department, nearly 95% of the country is experiencing clear skies, accelerating daytime heating. Several cities are already approaching 40°C, while central and peninsular regions may see temperatures between 42°C and 45°C this week with warmer nights, falling humidity and fading western disturbances are further intensifying heat stress, particularly across urban centers.

Will it Rain or Snow in the Hills?

Light snowfall remains possible in higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, especially in Srinagar and Gulmarg however, rainfall across plains remains limited with dry and hot conditions dominating most of India.

Why Is The Heat Building Up So Fast Across India?

  • Weakening Western Disturbances
  • Clear skies increasing solar heating
  • Dry soil heating faster than moist soil
  • Heat dome effect trapping warm air
  • Urban heat island impact in major cities
  • Rising influence of climate variability and El Niño risks

These factors combined are pushing temperatures up faster than usual.
