AAP Accuses BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri of Election Code Violation, Files Official Complaint

TSG On WeekdaysAAP Accuses BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri of Election Code Violation, Files Official Complaint

Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Kalkaji candidate and Delhi CM Atishi has lodged a complaint against BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri for allegedly violating the Election Code of Conduct by establishing an election office within 80 meters of a polling booth in Govindpuri. According to the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) guidelines, setting up election offices is prohibited within 200 meters of a designated polling station.

Atishi’s election agent, Vijay Kumar, formally submitted the complaint to the Returning Officer for Assembly Constituency 51 – Kalkaji, citing the violation. The complaint alleges that Ramesh Bidhuri has opened an election office at Banaras House, 1/42, DDA Local Shopping Complex, Govindpuri, which is in close proximity to the MCD Co-ed School in Giri Nagar, a designated polling booth.

The complaint states, “This is a direct breach of the guidelines laid down by the Election Commission of India. As per the Model Code of Conduct, no election office is permitted to be established within 200 meters of polling stations to maintain a fair and impartial atmosphere for voters.”

The complaint further argues that this act “has the potential to influence voters, creating an undue advantage and compromising the integrity of the electoral process. Immediate action is necessary to rectify the situation and ensure that the election is conducted fairly and transparently.”

AAP’s formal submission calls for the following measures: an investigation into the alleged violation, the immediate closure of the election office set up by Ramesh Bidhuri, appropriate action against those responsible for the infraction, and strict enforcement of the Election Code of Conduct.

To support their allegations, AAP has submitted photographic and video evidence and has urged the Returning Officer to take prompt action to preserve the fairness and transparency of the electoral process.
