Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Minister for Jal Shakti, CR Paatil, on Tuesday at the minister’s official residence in the national capital. The meeting, which lasted approximately 30 minutes, focused on key water-related projects in Assam, including the rejuvenation of Silsako Beel, a crucial wetland in the state, and various initiatives under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
During the discussions, both leaders deliberated on strategies to restore and preserve Silsako Beel, which plays a significant role in Assam’s ecological balance and water management. Additionally, they reviewed the progress and challenges in implementing the Jal Jeevan Mission, a flagship initiative aimed at ensuring piped drinking water supply to rural households.
Following the meeting, CM Sarma took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share details about the discussions. He wrote, “Today in New Delhi, I had a very good meeting with Hon’ble Union Minister Shri CR Paatil Ji. We spoke at length about our plans to rejuvenate Silsako Beel and other issues pertaining to the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in Assam.”
The Chief Minister’s visit underscores the Assam government’s commitment to enhancing water infrastructure and conservation efforts in the state. The meeting is expected to pave the way for new policies and financial support to accelerate the execution of these critical projects.
