A high-level delegation from the Moscow city government, led by Sergey Cheremin, will participate in the Smart Cities India Expo 2025, taking place in New Delhi from 19-21 March. The visit underscores Moscow’s commitment to international collaboration, especially with India in digital technology and urban development.
The Smart Cities India Expo is a major global platform attracting leaders in digital innovation and sustainable urban solutions. This year’s event is expected to host over 1,200 exhibitors, including 350 startups, and draw in around 55,000 visitors.
Cheremin, who heads ‘Moscow’s Department for External Economic and International Relations’ and chairs the ‘Business Council for Cooperation with India’, will address the opening ceremony on 19 March.
On 20 March, the Moscow delegation will be a key participant in the II Smart Cities Forum: Russian-Indian Interregional Cooperation. This forum will gather government officials and leading companies from both Russia and India in the fields of information technology and urban infrastructure. Cheremin is slated to present Moscow’s investment opportunities, highlight its economic progress, and discuss initiatives focused on creating a comfortable urban environment, while also exploring potential partnerships with Indian partners.
He will also speak at a panel session on 21 March titled “The Indian Smart Cities Mission: From Inception to Fruition” where he will present Moscow’s approach to smart city development, emphasizing technology, comfort, and safety. Official sources said that particular attention will be paid to green and socially responsible economic models aimed at efficient resource use and improved quality of life, which many cities in India, including in India, are wanting to adopt.
Moscow, recognized as a leading global smart city, aims to use the Expo to strengthen international ties in digital transformation and urban innovation.

‘The II Smart Cities Forum: Russian-Indian Interregional Cooperation’ is a joint effort by several organizations, including the Government of Moscow, the Russian Embassy in India, and the Indian Business Alliance.
