Transforming Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Government’s Vision Drives Growth in Food Processing and Self-Reliance

TSG On WeekdaysTransforming Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Government's Vision Drives Growth in Food Processing and Self-Reliance

Under the decisive leadership and visionary guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is making significant progress toward self-reliance. The state government has introduced targeted initiatives to boost the food processing industry, empowering women, entrepreneurs, and youth in both rural and urban areas. Notable achievements have been made under the PM FME Scheme.

In line with the directives of the Government of India, Uttar Pradesh has established 14 state-of-the-art Incubation Centers/Common Facility Centers at a project cost of Rs 47 crore. These centers are equipped with advanced machinery designed to enhance productivity and innovation. Focused on promoting self-reliance among rural women, these centers are expected to provide employment opportunities to approximately 15,000 women, both directly and indirectly.

Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a hub for food processing industries. The Department of Horticulture and Food Processing has allocated Rs 30 crore to support 10,000 self-help groups. This funding, provided through the State Rural Livelihood Mission and State Urban Livelihood Mission, helps women access working capital and acquire small tools. This initiative not only fosters economic empowerment but also nurtures entrepreneurship among women.

To date, 46,897 entrepreneurs have registered on the PM FME scheme’s MIS web portal, with 32,176 applications submitted. Of these, 13,933 projects have received bank loan approvals, with grants ranging from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The scheme has enabled investments of approximately Rs 1,500 crore in Uttar Pradesh, creating nearly 1 lakh employment opportunities in both rural and urban regions. These initiatives are playing a crucial role in strengthening the state’s economy.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath envisions global recognition for Uttar Pradesh’s local products. The food processing initiatives are a key step in achieving this vision. By establishing incubation centers and common facility centers, the state is enhancing production and ensuring product quality meets international standards. Uttar Pradesh is at the forefront of realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat.” Through strategic utilization of local resources, the Chief Minister has transformed the state into a model for employment generation and economic growth.
