NEW DELHI

The Bharatpur Assembly constituency is an important seat to watch for in Rajasthan. It has swung between different candidates in the last two elections. Vijay Vansal (Pappu Banda) who had been a legislator twice from the same seat, lost the recent election in 2018. Now, there is an indication that he might be fielded by the BJP again for the same seat.

In the 2018 elections on the Bharatpur City Assembly seat, Vijay Vansal (Pappu Banda) was the candidate from Rajasthan and this time possibilities are that the will get a ticket from BJP. Vansal has a good track record and won the seat on the BJP ticket in 2008 and 2013 by defeating BSP candidate Dalveer Singh by 22,694 votes, while in 2018, he lost it with 15,710 seats. However, in 2003 he won as an Indian National Lok Dal nominee. In 2013, he defeated BSP candidate Dalveer Singh by 22,694 votes.

Meanwhile, out of 39 seats in these six districts, 35 were won by Congress. So, it will be tough for Vansal to retain his lost glory. Vansal will be fighting against current MLA Dr Subhash Garg of Rashtriya Lok Dal Party. He became the MLA with 52869 votes. He defeated Bharatiya Janata Party’s Vijay Bansal (Pappu Banda) who had polled 37159 votes. The winning margin was 15710 votes. Now, when the elections are here, the minister of state for technical education and Ayurveda and Indian medicine, public grievances and redressal (independent charge) has come into the limelight.

However, this seat was an alliance between Rashtriya Lok Dal and the Congress in the 2018 elections of the Bharatpur City Assembly seat. Till now, the alliance between Congress and Rashtriya Lok Dal Party has not been formed on this seat, hence the name of the candidate has not been announced yet. In these few years, Bharatpur has experienced many crimes. In fact, in these years it has been India’s most cybercrime-prone region, responsible for a significant 18% of reported cybercrimes. Now, voters in Bharatpur are vocal about the crime rate in Bharatpur. However, they say, that in the health sector, Bharatpur is doing well.
Bharatpur is geographically located in the Bharatpur district and the Matsya region of Rajasthan. Bharatpur is classified as an urban constituency. According to the Elections Commission’s data in 2018, there are a total of 2,53,420 voters in the seat, which includes 1,34,088 male voters, and 1,19,332 female voters.
