The Houses were adjourned for the third consecutive day amid uproar from the Opposition.

New Delhi: Proceedings in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned for the third consecutive day amid uproar from the Opposition for discussions on the Adani indictment case, the ethnic strife in Manipur and violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal.

Both the Lower and Upper Houses were adjourned shortly after they met on Thursday and were later adjourned for the day soon after reconvening at noon amid uproar from the Opposition.

Before being adjourned, the only business the Lok Sabha could do was adopting a resolution granting an extension to the Joint Parliamentary Panel (JPC) on the Waqf Amendment Bill until the last day of the Budget Session next year.

JPC chairman and Bharatiya Janata Party MP, Jagdambika Pal moved the motion, which was adopted by the House.

On Thursday, the Lower House also witnessed Priyanka Gandhi Vadra taking oath as member of the Lok Sabha.

In Rajya Sabha, AAP leader Sanjay Singh, Congress leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala, Syed Naseer Hussain, Pramod Tiwari along with others had given notices for discussing the Adani issue, while Tiruchi Siva of DMK and CPI’s Sandosh Kumar P. and P.P. Suneer had given notices to discuss the violence in Manipur.

Similarly, Ram Gopal Yadav of the Samajwadi Party, Abdul Wahab (Indian Union Muslim League) and others had given notices for discussing the violence in Sambhal.

With several Opposition members still on their feet, the chairman adjourned the proceedings.
