Giriraj Singh criticises opposition for blocking Ajmer Dargah survey

TSG On WeekdaysGiriraj Singh criticises opposition for blocking Ajmer Dargah survey

The issue gained nationwide attention after a Rajasthan court accepted a petition by the Hindu Sena, claiming that the Ajmer Sharif Dargah was originally a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

NEW DELHI: Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh criticized those opposing the court-ordered survey of the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, accusing them of attempting to create unrest similar to what occurred in Sambhal. Speaking to the media outside Parliament on Thursday, 28 November 2024, Singh blamed the Congress party’s appeasement politics for the current situation.

The issue gained nationwide attention after a Rajasthan court accepted a petition by the Hindu Sena, claiming that the Ajmer Sharif Dargah was originally a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Giriraj Singh remarked “In Ajmer, the court has directed a survey based on a petition filed by a Hindu. What is the problem with that? The Mughals destroyed our temples, and now people ask how many mosques we will survey. I would say this situation arose because Congress indulged in appeasement. If Nehru had stopped the practice of building mosques over destroyed temples, we wouldn’t be here today. The court’s decision aligns with the law, but some are trying to turn this into another Sambhal. That won’t happen.”

On the other hand, Samajwadi Party (SP) Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav condemned the BJP, arguing that creating controversy around the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, a site visited by people from around the world, reflects a “hateful” and “shallow” mind-set. He accused BJP-backed individuals of stoking such disputes to retain power. “I’ve said before that some judges in lower courts are inciting tensions. This controversy has no merit. Even Prime Minister Modi sends a ‘chaddar’ to the dargah. Such acts show a hateful mindset. BJP-backed individuals will do anything to stay in power, even if it means putting the country at risk,” Yadav stated.

Just like Ram Gopal Yadav, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi also criticized the judiciary, suggesting that the Places of Worship Act is being ignored. He accused the Modi government and RSS of undermining national unity and the rule of law. “In Sambhal, five people lost their lives due to such actions. This weakens the country’s social fabric and legal framework. BJP and RSS must answer for this. These actions are being orchestrated under their direction,” Owaisi asserted.
