A viral letter doing the rounds of social media claims that Amritpal Singh proposed an alliance between a Sikh political party and the BJP. It also claims that Amritpal had discussions with PM Modi and HM Shah.
Chandigarh: The family of detained Khalistani, Waris Punjab De chief and MP Khadoor Sahib Amritpal Singh has decided to file a complaint with the Cyber Police over a viral fake letter that falsely claims he proposed
The letter, which has been widely circulated on social media, alleges that Amritpal Singh had discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah during the oath-taking ceremony in Delhi. It claims that he suggested a purely Sikh political party should join forces with the BJP to work for the welfare of Punjabis.
Condemning the letter as false, Amritpal Singh’s uncle, Sukhchain Singh, asserted, “The letter is fake. These are not his signatures. We are lodging a complaint with the Cyber Police for action against those responsible for its circulation.”
Sukhchain Singh, a retired Punjab Police Inspector, further stated that the letter falsely outlines key demands such as the release of imprisoned Sikhs and punishment for those responsible for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The conviction of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar is also mentioned as part of this pursuit.
The fake letter, allegedly forged in Sukhchain Singh’s name, claims that Amritpal Singh is open to setting aside the demand for Khalistan for now and focusing on securing more rights for Punjab. It states, “We should leave the issue of Khalistan for now and focus on securing more rights for Punjab. In the future, we must become politically strong. Let us attain power and then discuss the progress of Punjab under the provisions of the Indian Constitution. We also need to make agreements. If we have to make an agreement with the Bharatiya Janata Party for the welfare of Punjab, then we will have no problem. The common Sikh should also not have any objection. All Sikhs should support us. We do not seek power for political ambition but for the welfare of Punjab.”
Amritpal Singh’s family has urged authorities to investigate the source of the letter and take action against those spreading misinformation.
