VHP sets focus on declining Hindu population, attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, and reclaiming Kashi and Mathura.
New Delhi: The three-day meeting of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Central Margdarshak Mandal, which began on January 24 at the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, has decided to focus on the ‘declining Hindu population’, attacks against Hindus in Bangladesh and the reclamation of ‘Kashi (Gyanvapi Mosque) and Mathura (Shahi Idgah)’ through legal means.
Speaking to The Sunday Guardian, VHP Joint General Secretary Dr Surendra Jain said, “We, along with all the seers and other members, had detailed discussions on several issues. However, three core issues were highlighted in our discussions, and we will continue to focus on them.”
These issues include the steep decline in Hindu population, which poses a threat to India’s civilisational culture, the rise in attacks against Hindus in Bangladesh and reclamation of ‘Kashi and Mathura’ through constitutional means, Jain said.
The seers at the Margdarshak Mandal appealed to the society, urging every Hindu family to follow the “at least three children” norm to maintain the balance of the Hindu population.
“For now, we have decided to focus on reclaiming Gyanvapi Mosque and Shahi Idgah via the constitutional route. Although, the seers had other opinions, for now, our focus is only on these two issues for the time being”, said a VHP leader.
This comes at a time when RSS supremo Dr Mohan Bhagwat, in December of last year, pointed out that after the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, some individuals mistakenly believe they can establish themselves as “leaders of Hindus” by creating disputes over temple-mosque issues.
“This is unacceptable,” he had said at the time. While saffron outfits currently have no intention to raise the issue of Sambhal following Bhagwat’s comments, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath continues to raise the issues of Kashi, Mathura, and Sambhal.
