All eyes on CM KCR’s Gajwel constituency

NewsAll eyes on CM KCR’s Gajwel constituency

The forthcoming Telangana Assembly elections across all 119 constituencies are poised to shine a spotlight on Gajwel, a constituency currently represented by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. Eatala Rajender, a six-time MLA affiliated with the BJP, has officially declared his intention to contest against a prominent figure from the BRS in the scheduled 30 November polls. During a recent gathering with party members in Gajwel, Rajender strongly criticized the BRS, accusing them of utilising cash incentives and free offerings to sway voters. He vehemently opposed the BRS leaders’ attempts to influence the BJP supporters. Rajender exudes confidence in replicating his past electoral success in Gajwel, reminiscent of his victorious performance in the Huzurabad Assembly constituency bypoll in 2021.
Both Rao and Rajender have opted to vie for seats in two Assembly constituencies each. Rao is seeking election in Gajwel and Kamareddy, while Rajender is contesting in Gajwel and Huzurabad. Nonetheless, the central focus remains fixed on Gajwel, where Rajender is resolute in his determination to unseat the chief minister, regardless of the cost.
Potential advantages for Rajender, stemming from his affiliation with the Backward Classes (BC), include support from many BRS activists, owing to his long-standing association as a pivotal member since the party’s inception.
On the other hand, Rao benefits from the developmental strides made in the constituency since the establishment of Telangana in 2014. His welfare schemes, particularly Rythu Bandhu, Shaadi Mubarak, and Kalyana Lakshmi are anticipated to work in his favour.
