In an era where accessibility and efficiency in public services stand as cornerstones of effective governance, the Mann government in Punjab is poised to transform the landscape with the launch of the “Bhagwant Mann Sarkar, Tuhade Dwaar” scheme. This initiative, set to commence on 10 December, is not just a fulfillment of electoral promises but a shift in delivering citizen-centric services to the doorsteps of the people of Punjab.

The genesis of this groundbreaking scheme lies within the core ethos of the Aam Aadmi Party’s commitment to “Sarkar Tuhade Dwaar”. It is about taking government services to the doorsteps of the people.

At the heart of this program is the Door-Step Delivery (DSD) mechanism, designed to revolutionize the provision of 43 essential Government-to-Citizen (G2C) services. The spectrum of services encompassed by this initiative spans a wide range of critical needs, including Aadhar-related services, certificates for birth, marriage, death, income, residence, caste, rural and border areas, pensions, electricity bill payments, demarcation of land, and more.

Specially trained personnel armed with tablets and a commitment to service excellence will navigate the streets of Punjab, scheduling appointments and bringing government services directly to citizens’ homes or workplaces.
The accessibility of these services is key. Citizens need to dial the dedicated helpline number 1076, enabling them to schedule appointments at their convenience. The process is further streamlined through informative SMS notifications detailing necessary documentation, fee structures, and appointment specifics. This comprehensive approach ensures that citizens are well-prepared and informed, minimizing any hurdles in availing themselves of these crucial services.
Launching on 10 December 2023, citizens can access the DSD Service through designated Sewa Kendras or the dedicated helpline number 1076.

Mohan Kamboj, a long-time resident of Patiala, views the upcoming scheme as a watershed moment for the state. According to Kamboj, this initiative represents a fundamental shift in governance that directly addresses the needs of the people. “For years, accessing government services meant navigating bureaucratic hurdles, spending hours in queues, and often relying on intermediaries,” Kamboj remarked. “This scheme changes that. It brings the government to our doorsteps, saving time, effort, and undue hassle.”
