NEW DELHI: Following the arrest of six illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators from the Jahangirpuri area, who were found engaging in criminal activities while masquerading as transgenders, Delhi’s Home Minister, Ashish Sood, has taken suo motu cognizance of the case. He has directed the police to adopt stringent measures, asserting that no illegal infiltrator would be permitted to remain in Delhi.
The minister recalled mentioning in his budget speech that the Delhi Government would soon assume control of the detention centre in Lampur. He stressed that in coordination with the police, the government would take strict action against all illegal infiltrators, especially those from Bangladesh, as well as those who provide them shelter.
“Our government is resolute in its mission to eliminate illegal infiltrators from Delhi. This commitment is evident in our proactive measures, and their positive impact will soon be seen across the national capital,” he stated.
Sood reaffirmed the government’s unwavering dedication to ensuring the security and safety of Delhi’s citizens.
According to the Delhi Police, upon interrogation, the arrested individuals disclosed that they had entered India illegally via porous border areas with the help of agents and had travelled to Delhi by train. They further revealed that, to avoid detection, they adopted disguises and even underwent minor surgical procedures and hormonal treatments to alter their sex and appearance.
Earlier this week, the Foreigners Cell of the North-West District Police of Delhi successfully apprehended the six illegal Bangladeshi migrants following a thorough and prolonged surveillance operation. During the arrest, six mobile phones installed with the banned IMO app, used to maintain contact with their families in Bangladesh, were seized. The six individuals have since been transferred to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) at R.K. Puram, New Delhi, for deportation proceedings. Investigations are ongoing, and efforts are underway to ensure their prompt deportation.
According to the Delhi Police, after ten days of intensive manual and technical surveillance, credible information surfaced indicating that six such individuals were near the Jahangirpuri Metro Station. Acting promptly, the police team set up a trap early in the morning and successfully apprehended all six suspects.
The arrested individuals include Md Zakria Moina Khan, a resident of B-Block, Jahangirpuri, originally from Barguna; Suhana Khan, also known as Saurabh, a native of Gazipur; Akhi Sarkar, with roots in Madaripur; Md Baoijed Khan, also known as Pakhi, originally from Sirajganj; Md Rana, also known as Lobely, a native of Pabna; and Johny Hussain, also known as Jimmy, originally from Naogaon.
