The AAP started its ‘Mein Bhi Kejriwal’ signature campaign on Friday, 1 December

NEW DELHI

The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Adami Party (AAP) has started the “Mein Bhi Kejriwal” signature campaign in Delhi from Friday, 1 December. It began with a door-to-door campaign in the Laxmi Nagar area by the party’s Delhi state convenor and Cabinet Minister Gopal Rai.

During the campaign, Gopal Rai alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party was plotting the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal out of fear of losing Delhi’s seven Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming general elections.

“We asked Delhiites, in case of his arrest, whether CM Arvind Kejriwal should resign or run the government from jail. The people said he should not resign and run the government from jail. They were of the view that all the arrests were being made under an agenda. So Kejriwal should not resign,” said Rai.

The AAP Delhi State Convenor shared that from 1 to 20 December, they will conduct a door-to-door campaign at all the 2,600 polling stations, and from 21 to 24 December, they will hold public meetings in all 250 wards. In the end, whatever opinion the public gives, they will hand it over to CM.
“The way leaders of the AAP are being falsely implicated and arrested, like Satyendra Jain, Manish Sisodia, followed by Sanjay Singh. Now a conspiracy is underway to arrest Arvind Kejriwal. That’s why we initiated this campaign and asked Delhiites: If CM gets arrested, should he resign or run the government from jail?” said Rai.

During the campaign in Laxmi Nagar, Rai said, “So far, the people we’ve talked to say that CM has done a lot of work for the public, like providing free electricity, water, healthcare, education, facilitating bus travel for women, and pilgrimages for the elderly, so he should not resign but run the government from jail.”

On the other hand, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said that the “Mein Bhi Kejriwal” campaign had proved to be a non-starter, with people asking counter-questions to AAP leaders and workers.

Sachdeva stated that people asked questions to AAP workers across the city about corruption in the construction of CM’s Palatial Bungalow, apart from liquor scams and Jal Board scams.

“The door to door signature campaign too has found no takers, with common people asking AAP workers posing as ‘Mein Bhi Kejriwal’ as to ‘Kejriwal Ne Bharshtachar Kyun Kiya’—why Kejriwal indulged corruption,” said Sachdeva.
