Let us express our gratitude to God for His glorious love, which creates us in His image and likeness, endowing us with human identity, inherent dignity, worth, and freedom that transcend gender, race, caste, age, or social status. This divine love calls us to serve as ‘reflective mirrors,’ projecting God’s character onto creation and integrating it into our relationships, thus fulfilling our holy calling.
Genesis 3 vividly portrays humanity’s seduction by the Evil One, leading to Adam and Eve’s disobedience. Their rebellion, fuelled by the desires of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1 John 2:16), signifies humanity’s deviation from God’s will, plunging us into a state of spiritual captivity, similar to being trapped in a cage. God’s glorious Gospel of immense love unfolded dramatically when He, metaphorically riding on the cross, came down to our level and sacrificed Himself to unlock our cage of imprisonment.
John 3:16-17 highlights this divine effort to redeem humanity, proclaiming, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Christ’s sacrifice opens the door to our freedom, offering reconciliation and restoring our original glory in Him. Escaping this cage necessitates turning to God with humility and repentance. It requires a daily commitment to live by the Spirit, avoiding the gratification of fleshly desires (Galatians 5:16).
Additionally, it involves transforming our hearts and minds, focusing on heavenly things, and acknowledging that every good gift comes from God (James 1:17). In doing so, we embrace the true freedom Christ provides—liberation from sin, the empowerment to live righteously, and the opportunity to achieve the noble purposes for which Christ gave us glory which His Father gave Him (John 17:22).
