A Court in Kannauj (Uttar Pradesh) has sentenced a 50-year-old man to 26 years of rigorous imprisonment for the abduction and rape of a three-year-old girl in a local village approximately two years ago, as reported by officials on Saturday.
Government advocate Naveen Kumar Dubey stated that the court has also levied a fine of Rs 50,500 on the convict, Rajesh Jatav.
Dubey stated a complaint against Rajesh Jatav, also known as Mahatma (50), alleged that on the evening of December 2, 2021, he had abducted the three-year-old girl, held her captive in a nearby house, and sexually assaulted her. When the victim’s condition deteriorated, Jatav fled the scene. Subsequently, the girl’s family members arrived, rescued her, and rushed her to a hospital. Relying on the medical report of the child and other pieces of evidence, Special Judge (POCSO) Alka Yadav found Jatav guilty and sentenced him to 26 years of rigorous imprisonment. Additionally, the court imposed a fine of Rs 50,500 on him, and in the event of non-payment of the fine, Jatav would be subject to an additional two-year penalty, Dubey noted.
