People organize Prabhat Phery (Prabhat Ferries) — a tradition which literally means ‘early morning rounds’ in the neighbourhood or nearby colonies by singing religious songs, chanting Gods names, in the early morning hours before the sunrise — to create a happy, beautiful and positive environment. Prabhat Phery can be attended by people of other religion also as there is no bar or dictate that only one particular community will attend and enjoy the aura of auspicious traditional ritual. To mark the occasion, community people decorate Gurdwaras, streets, homes with fairy lights, create creative art from fairy lights, organise Langars (community free meal which is done voluntarily as a social service
