SaMaPa (Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts), one of the most acclaimed classical festivals of Delhi is back with its 13th edition. The three day long music fest held will culminate today at Kamani Auditorium, Copernicus Marg. The musical rendezvous is a calendar event of the national capital and attracts connoisseurs of music from various parts of the country and abroad. The festival features performance by 50+ artists, also a Painting and Photography Exhibition by the artists of J&K and Delhi. SaMaPa Sangeet Sammelan is a gateway for the young musicians with exceptional talent to showcase their talent with senior legendary maestros of the country.
SaMaPa is a cultural movement translating from a deep rooted vision of its Chairman, the music legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori. The music maestro along with the members of Board endeavour to in create a unique, unbiased and empowering national level platform for presentation, propagation, and teaching of traditional music and performing arts for the artists and the young talents. The festival widens its horizon into the general masses by creating the right platform for better appreciation and understanding of the traditional music and its technicalities. It also enables them to utilise the power of music in leading a more balanced life, as well as exploring opportunities with music as a means of employment. SaMaPa recognises the contribution of several artists, leaders, officials and individual personalities for their tireless efforts in propagating and keeping the traditional system of music alive.
The event this time saw the performances by Vidushi Manju Mehta (Sitar player), Kalapani Komkali (daughter of music legends Kumar Gandhara and Vasundhara Komkali), flutist Chetan Joshi and others along with some young talent.
