Dual degree programmes approved by DU Academic Council

NewsDual degree programmes approved by DU Academic Council

Students at DU can now study two academic programmes concurrently with a syllabus with 70% or more similarities

NEW DELHI

Delhi University at its 1016th Academic Council (AC) meeting got approval to implement the dual degree programme. Students at DU can now study two academic programmes concurrently with syllabus that have 70% or more similarities. One through full-time physical mode and the other through open and distance learning (ODL) mode.

This was carried out under the guidelines of the National Education Policy 2020.

According to Dr. Manisha Sharma, Associate Professor, Janki Devi Memorial College, DU, “a dual degree at the university will definitely benefit the students of Delhi University as it will provide diverse employment opportunities. It will open multiple career options for them. The initiative of Delhi University will also enhance the knowledge and skills of the students”.

However, a few teachers are criticising it, saying that pursuing one degree is already a full-time commitment. How will they manage two degrees at a time? And a lot of students will probably take it up because they will be able to get two degrees at the same time.

Although, DU aspirants are happy and excited about the new programme stating that, it will provide us with a lot of opportunities and open a lot of doors for us.
