NEW DELHI: Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and Laxmi Group have commenced local assembly of the VENUE model in Nepal at the country’s first automobile assembly plant inaugurated by Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Tae-Young Park, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, in Nepal on 10 May 2024. This plant in Nepal has an installed capacity of assembling 5,000 units annually, and Hyundai VENUE will be the first locally assembled model to roll off the plant.

Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO, HMIL is looking for more encouraging policies and incentives from the Nepal Government aimed at developing a conducive environment for local assembly. Hyundai Motor and Laxmi Group’s industry-first vehicle assembly plant in the country will pave the way for promoting localization and employment generation. The commencement of this plant has been possible with the able support of Laxmi Group, local partners, and the essential support from Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), Korea, along with HMIL contributing their expertise in advanced technology and skills transfer.

As a result, while Laxmi Group will make and sell Hyundai cars in Nepal, customers can be assured of continued satisfaction and customer experience, with continued collaboration and support on products, technology and quality projects from HMC Korea and Hyundai Motor India.

Hyundai Motor India has also launched Hyundai Soirée, a customer engagement initiative tailored especially for customers of the all-electric Hyundai IONIQ 5. Hyundai Soirée sets to immerse customers in a meticulously fashioned engagement experience to cater to the sophisticated IONIQ 5 clientele. Hyundai Soirée aims to explore new territories in pursuit of delivering exceptional driving mobility experiences. Since its launch in India in January 2023, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 has captivated the market with its design, technology, performance and features, with over 1500 units sold in India to date.

As the sole OEM with the largest ultra-fast EV charging network in India, HMI is committed to expanding the EV charging infrastructure to 485 stations by 2030. Additionally, the company has announced its plans to introduce five new EVs by 2030, with the launch of its first mass EV in 2025.
