Reshuffle likely in Bihar BJP

NewsReshuffle likely in Bihar BJP
Organisational reshuffle in Bihar BJP is being planned by the yearend, with the party likely to give more posts to leaders from the backward castes. Party sources also said that some of the present ministers who are from Bihar will also be dropped from the Union Cabinet and will be asked to work for strengthening the organisation.
As per the party sources in Delhi and Patna, the present state BJP chief Mangal Pandey, whose term is ending soon, is likely to be replaced with a former Union minister who is from the backward caste. Former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi is likely to be brought to Delhi and given a post in the Cabinet after nominating him to the Rajya Sabha. According to party sources, Jharkhand-based RSS man, Rajendra Singh, 49, who unsuccessfully contested the Assembly elections from Dinara, is also pushing for his candidature as the state president.
“In the Assembly elections, we depended on parties like Lok Janshakti Party and Hindustani Awam Morcha for getting the support of the backward classes but it did not help. We have hence decided to strengthen our own backward caste leaders,” a BJP national vice president said.
Member of Parliament from Buxar, Ashwini Choubey, who shares cordial relations with the RSS, is likely to be accommodated in the Cabinet in place of other ministers from Bihar who are going to be dropped.
“We need to keep a balance between our supporters in the forward castes and in the backward castes and hence state leaders from both the sections (Sushil Modi and Ashwini Choubey) are going to be ‘promoted’. We have already appointed Prem Kumar (party MLA from Gaya, who is from the backward caste) as the new leader of opposition,” a Patna-based RSS functionary said.
